Quarter 27 - Spring 1997

The affairs of state of Bremphalian, formerly Germany, were taken over by the regent Am Yung Tao in Summer 1990. Observers classify the midsize state as progressive social liberal party-democracy, known for its low national debt and the low crime rate.

Most of the educated and egalitarian citizens are very content with the circumstances. They have a reputation to be sportive and freedom-loving. Further they enjoy an outstanding infrastructure. Compared with other countries, the most distinctive difference is the Debt rate.

The regent managed to improve his influence in comparison to previous year.

Bremphalian is not a member of an alliance.

*The Aligned Autonomous Fiefdoms of the Workers Bremphalian* /HISTORY/ In the wake of the calamitous Great Continental War (1915-22), The Allies sought to dismantle the warmongering former state of Pruss-bayer; in this vein The Treaty of Surrender carved out an independent territory from the old nation - this territory would become Bremphalian. The Treaty which set up this new state imposed an alien, neoliberal political order on its citizens. // This hostility and antagonism on the part of the populace engendered a sense of national urgency and within one year of its existence, the new nation was embroiled in a civil war - a loose coalition of anarchists and socialists on one side (Guard des Kommunities), the right wing, pro-Pruss & Monarch side on the other. // This put the infant country in a precarious position; the population was heavily left leaning, yet the political right controlled most of the state apparatus and military (and received covert support from Pruss-Bayer despite the fact it was expressly bound to respect Bremphalian's territorial integrity and independence). The Allies were reticent to intervene on the basis that they did not support the revolutionary politics of the GDK. Events would soon take a quick turn, giving the new country a distinct flavour. // In May 1923 a bomb blast shook the compound of a key right wing leader. 17 were killed, including two generals which had been sent in to help coordinate operations from Pruss-Bayer. Finally, international patience had run out and a Core Summit was established; all armed groups were brought around the negotiation table. The result: Bremphalian would be re-divided with a fragment of its territory being restored to Pruss-Bayer; the remaining country would be governed by a coalition which had to seek a super-consensus on any action taken at a national level. // This essentially proved to be the catalyst towards the development of the new anarchist state, as few acts were undertaken at national level & municipal govt. ascended to established eminence. In 1951 (five years after the end of the 2nd Great Continental War) a new constitution was ratified highlighting the political reality that emerged spontaneously; The Fiefdoms of Bremphalia were no longer a conventional state, but a collection of equal, affiliated municipalities, each with their own character and systems of govt.
