Question to the Americans here

Today I watched an episode of the Simpsons, where Bart was extremely fat and he was shown how his parents had to earn money to finance his stay at a health-camp on order to cause him a guilty conscience.

Well, they had to accommodate Rucksackdeutsche. Bart was really shocked, when he saw those guys - backpackers from Germany. I had to laugh so much, they were drawn and animated so typically Lachweg Those people are really hard to bear Hehe

Well, is it a commonly used term, Rucksackdeutsche? I watched the episode in german language, so I can't know Noplan But I would not wonder about it Suspect

I'm an Australian, though we speak English, we get the Simpsons in American Tongue

No, I've never heard of it before. In that ep the German backpackers are referred to as German Backpackers....what actual part of it did you hear that phrase?

And Homer sings the song in perfect German with no accent. It's great! Dan Castellaneta, who does the voice of Homer must speak German.

RE: Question to the Americans here

It's difficult to reach native-level fluency in English. So many sayings, double meanings, slang, regional differences, and that's just American English. British English can be hard for me to understand sometimes!

High German seems to be easier to reach native fluency, but hard to get started with. Well, I've had a hard time with it over the past few years. At least people say my pronunciation is perfect! Daumenhoch
