one important question
i really want to know one thing.
and that is...
if this game is about pre-determined facts
or
a random game dependent on random decisions...
let me put it this way...
do my state have any chance to succeed with the decisions i made or in order to succed i have to make the decisons which are pre-programmed by the game developers?
it seems to me with every task i am challenged i have to choose the right solution to it... which are determined by the developers... so it becomes a game where i have to sit and think `what would the developer give an answer to this task`
for example i want the education system free, without the states intreption but what i get is `Teachers teach and grade virtually lictentiously.` This is not what i expected... I expected free education, with a lot of different ideas in the same place, children learning that there are different approaches to anything...
so this game is not about what i think, which in the first place was the reason i started playing it, but the game is about giving the right answers to the tasks...
to summarize i want to say this... this game should not be about finding the right answers but should be the development of the state according to the desicions... what ever we decide should be reflected in our states development but not in this way... not in the way of right or wrong answers. there should be more freedom..
in the end i am very positive about this game, i have been playing online games for years now, and this one excited me more than anything...
thank you

RE: one important question
Ups sorry, almost forgotten your question.
Well, the explanation of the effects doesn't say much about the real effects which flow into the calculations (see the help).
And indeed there are no right or wrong answers! Almost each answer has positive and negative effects, some are beneficial for a short time, others give a positve effect not until many years in the future. We try to be very objective, and there is no other way to create a game like this, than human beings trying to estimate effects on the economy and society.
Per aspera ad astra.

I'll be you expected the private education system answer would be "only the rich can afford education, which is mostly organized by religious fanatics". I like this game because it's not biased, it's realistic.
It's not very doesn't normally give an answer that you'd hope for, sure, but it's realistic.

RE: one important question
I'm having the same dilemma. I've failed twice at making dictatorships because my decisions hurt my reputation and happiness too much but get nothing in return. Now I'm trying a ruthless capitalist state and I think I'll fail too. It seems that if I want to last as a ruler the only way to go is pro-democracy and pro-civil rights.
As Rowan says, the outcome is indeed realistic, but maybe incomplete. For example, in the discrimination task I chose to discriminate since that's what corporations would want and got "Fringe groups are officially discriminated against." along with reduced reputation, civil rights and a bunch of dissent, but (seemingly) no benefits at all. In my opinion I should have gotten something like "Fringe groups are officially discriminated against. Many important CEOs now support you because of this" with the following outcomes:
- Popularity
+ Power
- Reputation
- Civil Rights
+ Economy
+ Portfolio money
Or something along those lines...
Cliffs: Every decision should have noticeable positive and negative effects.

RE: one important question
We will soon implement a realistic way to make dictatorship easier depending on tasks.
