gaining exitus states
What if a regent can join the elections of exitus states and become their regent as well?
different possibilities:
1. All the new subjects and their land join the regent's state. The regent then has to overcome the chaos that follows.
2. The state will remain independent. The regent has a chance to improve the situation until the next elections are held.
this way a regent can get a second chance when he loses elections too.

RE: gaining exitus states
Hmm, it would be an interesting challenge, especially for those who already started some more or less successfull states from scratch.
However, I guess some states will be extremely difficult to save since the matrix appearantly has a lot of nodes (values of all sort, like unemployment rate, GINI coefficient, capital crimes, ...) which are highly connected. Even if a capable regent fixes half of the problems fast (with introducing reasonable tax values, for example), the other half may automatically ruin it again, because of the high degree of connection between the nodes.
But, beside all theory, it is probably worth a try. If Malone and comfreak have time for it, prosecution of a lost state could be tested by them or some beta testers.
Leading the state as independant seems to be the way easier approach...

RE: gaining exitus states
Thank you for this proposal, but there is no way to do that. The simulation only works properly within a certain tunnel of values. When a state goes exitus, it usually has left this tunnel and now it is impossible to bring the matrix into balance again.
Per aspera ad astra.

RE: gaining exitus states
Though its clear, that the game works like this: is it realistic that there is no way to help a state? Of course, it should be (and in reality is) very hard to do - but not impossible. I don't ask for gaining the exitus state, I don't think that this would make the game better, but in my opinion it should be possible to bring your state up again in nearly any status. Or did you mean, it is "nearly" impossible?
--------------------

RE: gaining exitus states
Theoretically everything is possible. But it's always connected with the question: How much effort...?
