RE: Forum language

if this would be a task for my country i would give money for education and would click in the box where is written: a little english doesn't hurt states the_duke, a little gamer in Ars Regendi. When we enforce the importance of the english subject in school it will be a big win for our economy and the tourism. Jaja

wenn das eine aufgabe wäre in meinem staat würde ich geld in die bildung stecken und ich würde die box anklicken wo steht: ein bisschen englisch tut nicht weh meint the_duke, ein kleiner gamer in Ars Regendi. wenn wir die wichtigkeit des faches englisch anheben wird das ein grosser gewinn sein für die wirtschaft und den tourismus. Jaja

I believe that communication is key for this simulation. Being able to understand those that post in another language is important, and would encourage cooperation across international boundaries. The translation tool may not be perfect, but it would definitely help.

RE: Forum language

Ich denke, dass wir uns verstehen konnen! Mein Deutsch konnte besser sein und ich hoffe, dass ich diese Spiel und eure Sprache ubungen kann. Warum mussen wir nur eine Sprache haben? Wir leben alles in EU, also wir sollten zusammen arbeiten, um zusammen zu spielen.
Niemand hier ist zu faul, um ein paar Worter von einer andere Sprache zu lernen, ne?

Which i hope translates more or less to: I think we understand each other just fine the way things are! My german's pretty poor, but i'm hoping to get better at it while playing the game. I don't see why we should only operate in one language; after all we're all part of the EU. The EU happens to be multi-cultural and multi-lingual but there's no reason why that should stop us playing together. Furthermore i doubt anyone on here is too lazy to learn a few words from another language. There are plenty of translator tools out there. Check out the one at dictionary.com, it's free and quite accurate.

A translation tool would be ultimate as it doesn't compromise any language Kopfkratz

BUT if you're going to add one, which I hope, please make it look good Jaja like a scrollmenu would be nice.

Bye bye from Sweden

Hallo Crash,

ich hab mir deinen Beitrag mal mit dictionary.com übersetzt.
Und ich finde - Dein Deutsch verdient Respekt thumbsup. Es ist auf jeden Fall viel besser als das von dictionary.com... Mein Favorit wäre noch immer der google-translator.

Hello Crash,

I did translate your post with dictionary.com.
And I think - your German deserves respect thumbsup. It is in any case much better than that of dictionary.com ... My favorite would be still the google-translator.

Greeting

RE: Forum language

I don't speak any German--and being a native English speaker I have preferences for a language that I understand. Despite this, being that most of the people playing now seem to be German or at least understand it--I think a translation tool would be fine with me. Sure, I can understand 1 or 2 words in the german stuff people write here--but as a whole it is not understandable to me. If a translation tool can adequately bridge the gap, i would be happy with it.

The biggest problem with this is that the translation tools can do a pretty bad job and make the translation almost incomprehensible anyway--especially if I had no knowledge of the other language (german) and just translated it straight without editing what I knew to fix (using it by itself instead of as an aid with some knowledge.

Just my thought--though its not like any of the solutions are perfect for everyone.

RE: Forum language

To be honest, I meanwhile tend to a solution, where there is a German board with a few categories, and the main forum in English language.

It's also my opinion, that the most players are germans, because the most threads are in german! So, probably the english-speakings feel in the forum "not domestic", because of lack of contentfull english threads. umpf
Maybe a poll to find out the weighting of german-speakings to english-speakings and to the bi-linguals would make sense? Kopfkratz
